3 phase rotary converter torture test!

This is an old video of me doing testing on the two types of converters you can build; the transformer converter and the rotary converter.
I have a Champion 5 horse power compressor and I disconnect the unloader valve so that there is full pressure on the pistons.
The rotary converter stumbles at this but the transformer converter easily starts it.
The transformer converter is used for simple motor powered machines. Things like dust collectors, pumps, fans, compressors, etc. It is simple to build and has the fantastic starting power you need for high torque loads. Besides that it doesn’t waste electricity like the rotary does.
