People ask me "How much does it cost to build a transformer converter?" Here I show you how easy it is to build your own transformer.

A lot of people have trouble finding a used transformer. They don't live near a big city or have time to run around surplus places and scrap metal yards. I make it easy for them to build a three phase converter, by showing them how to make their own transformer.

This is a practical method for a person to have the convenience of the transformer converter with out the unknown variable of how much will they have to pay for a used transformer. As you can see the motor runs great and the compressor has full power.

Please note there is some light reflecting off the center amp meter. During the entire filming it is reading 13 point something amps. It looks like 3 point something amps, but it is not. Near the end when I cast a shadow on the meter you can see it better. Besides look at the voltages of the three lines, all within less than 10 volts of each other.

Notice the input amps.  I have run this compressor a lot during my testing and this is the lowest input amps I ever saw. With the single phase motor, it ran at 20.6 amps at 165 lbs. Here we take it up to 180 and it is still about 18.3 amps. This shows you how efficient this method is, and shows you how efficient a homemade transformer can be.
